Binged on carbs!

Two days ago I binged on carbohydrates and now I am bloated and trying to get back in ketosis. My weight tonight is 139.8 and I feel extremely bloated and uncomfortable. I’m fasting 22 hours per day and exercising 1-2 hours per day. I need to fix this fast!


Kicked out of ketosis

I’ve been eating bread the past few days. No sugar, no alcohol but bread has been my unfailing. So, now the weekend is over and it’s time to find my motivation again. 8pm a fast has begun, my night weight is 138, and I feel uncomfortable and bloated. I want to be in ketosis by Tuesday night.

Day 1

Lunch Mushroom soup, home made.

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 30 minutes

Total Time 35 minutes

Servings 1.5 cups each


1 lb. Button mushrooms

1 Tbsp olive oil

2 cloves garlic, chopped

Pinch salt & pepper

2 Tbsp butter

1/8 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups vegetable broth

1 cup water

1/8 tsp dried thyme

1/2 cup heavy cream


Wash the mushrooms to remove any dirt or debris. Slice half of the mushrooms and roughly chop the other half.

Add the olive oil, mushrooms, garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper to a soup pot. Sauté the mushrooms over medium heat until they have released all of their moisture, all the liquid has evaporated from the bottom of the pot, and the mushrooms become very dark brown.

Add the butter and flour to the pot. Stir and cook for about two minutes more. The flour and butter will form a thick paste and coat the mushrooms and the bottom of the pot. Keep stirring and don’t let it burn.

Add the vegetable broth, water, and dried thyme. Stir to dissolve all of the flour from the bottom of the pot. Allow the liquid to come up to a simmer, at which point the flour will slightly thicken the broth.

Stir the cream into the soup. Serve hot.

Time to refocus on the ketogenic lifestyle 

I’ve been refeeding with baked potatos, sweet potatoes and lots of silverbeet.  I wanted to replenish my reserves after my Lenten restriction.  My weight is between 132-134, which isn’t too much up after my fasting.  I don’t want it to go up any further, so am doing the tried and true method of lowering my carbohydrates in order to lower appetite.

My lent restricted diet is almost over 

Wow, the time flies when your not eating much.  I’m 130-132 and was 138 when I started Lent.  I’ve done a long, medium and am currently on a small fast, two days so far.  I feel that all this self eating must be producing health benefits and I look forward to increased health and vitality after Easter.
